Baseball’s Wild Finish

29 Sep

Being an avid fan of baseball since I was a wee child, there are few things that I enjoy more than a good pennant race. Today on what is the final day of the regular season, four teams are in ties vying for 2 playoff spots.

In the National League, The St. Louis Cardinals and the Atlanta Braves are battling for the wild card and in the American League the Tampa Bay Rays and Boston  Red Sox are playing for the same thing in their own league.

Both games have intriguing story lines as Tampa Bay is trying to become the first team to be down by more then 9 games going into the final month of the season and yet still make the playoffs. On the opposite side though Boston risks being on the opposite side of the spectrum having gone 5-16 in the month of September and spiraling towards the end of the season and potentially out of the postseason as well.

These games tonight are essentially playoff level games, as the intensity will be high. Even if you are not a fan of baseball, sitting down and watching these games may offer you some cheap entertainment. I for one will be spending my night watching baseball and I couldn’t be happier about it.
