Native American Documentary

7 Dec

Today I spent most of the day finishing up a documentary about race and Native American stereotypes for one of my classes. This was my first attempt making a documentary and it was a very interesting experience to say the least.

The last three weeks my partner Hunter Lawerence and I have been gathering information, filming B roll and interviewing people for what we hope is an enjoyable and educational piece of work. Today we finally concluded the process by editing the whole thing together.

In making this documentary I found that Austin truly has an eclectic array of people. Going about town to randomly interview folks in this town was one of the most entertaining experiences of my life.  Some of the things people say are truly fascinating. This was the most enjoyable aspect of making this documentary.

Overall I enjoyed the process, but realize documenting is not my forte. I still prefer creating narrative in film.

Anyways I just wanted to update you on this interesting experience in my life and to inform you to keep a watchful eye on my blog for the documentary, which I hope to post in the next few weeks.

The title of the Documentary is called FORGOTTEN.

Hopefully it’s not forgetful.
